VREP I-PLUG N PLAY
The Department of Energy, Government of Vanuatu received funding from the New Zealand Government to help rural people access home solar systems at an affordable price.
VREP 1 is about “Plug and Play”solar systems (see our Products page) The Department of Energy, through funding from the New Zealand Government, has paid half for these products. Now you only need to pay half to own a quality solar system. The 50% VREP subsidy is available to all households, aid posts, churches and community halls throughout Vanuatu. The 50% subsidy amount will soon be scaled back to 33% . Conditional Warranty is 2 years.
VREP II-SOLAR HOME SYSTEMS AND MICRO GRIDS
VREP II is about SOLAR HOME SYSTEMS (SHS) and micro grids for households, public institutions or businesses located in dispersed off-grid areas of Vanuatu.
The subsidy amount for SHS and micro grids is currently 33% of the total costs of the approved systems, including installation. Conditional Warranty is 2 years.
Phase II is contributing to the construction of five mini grid systems in larger communities, benefiting an additional 550 households. All systems will have the capability to reliably meet the energy needs of most households and businesses, including powering refrigerators, lights, office equipment and other electrical household appliances.
eTech has launched into VREP II, as well as working on separate, independent initiatives involving solar products for large homes and businesses.
18 AREA COUNCIL INSTALLATIONS
In January 2019, eTech Solar won a tender to supply, deliver and install mini grid solar systems in 18 Area Councils across rural Vanuatu. These systems are designed to enable office appliances to function normally day to day. Additionally, the system will improve the communication and flow of information directly from the Area Council offices to the Department of Local Authorities.
